The New Iraqi Dinar was introduced in 2003, following the end of Saddam Hussein’s rule. Printed by the noted De La Rue Company, it incorporates a number of features designed to make forgery extremely difficult. The security features include a watermark, the use of metallic ink, a security thread, a color changing symbol, embedded marking that can be seen under an ultra-violet light, raised ink writing, special currency paper, and unique serial numbers. Together, these make it nearly impossible to counterfeit the dinar banknotes and can be easily checked by any purchaser or dealer. Sterling Currency Group uses a special machine to assure that your dinar notes are verified as authentic.
